Bii Di Gain Dash Anwebi provides affordable housing and services to the elder population. It is located at 24th Street and Bloomington Avenue in south Minneapolis. Bii Di Gain Dash Anwebi was created in direct response to the lack of senior housing in the historically underserved American Indian Community.

Affordable Family Housing:

Guided by the “Self Sufficient Urban Indian Initiative” designed to move American Indians from homelessness to rental units and ultimately, to homeownership, AICDC developed, owns, and operates Many Rivers East (53 units) and Many Rivers West (28 units). These affordable family rental housing units are located on Franklin Avenue East in the heart of the American Indian Cultural Corridor. AICDC has also developed seven affordable single-family houses for first-time, Native American families.

Withdrawal Management Services

AICDC has served as the provider for Hennepin County Chemical Withdrawal / Detoxification Services since 2002. The facility is located at 1800 Chicago Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN. With over 7,000 persons admitted each year* services include withdrawal management, chemical health assessment and referral, mental health referrals, in-house support groups and other referrals based on specific needs of our clients. (*pre-Covid)

Homeless Services

During the COVID-19 pandemic AICDC provided basic services to over 11,600 homeless individuals at its mobile Hygiene Services Area and KOLA Overnight Drop-in Center.

In August 2020, AICDC raised $7.7 million for the acquisition, rehabilitation and operation of Homeward Bound Temporary Living facility at 2012 Cedar Ave South in Minneapolis. This 50-bed, 24-hour, emergency shelter provides the region’s first homeless shelter targeted to American Indians.

AICDC has been the Twin Cities primary American Indian Developer since its inception in 1992. AICDC believes in a sustainability model for all of its developments. AICDC is conservative in its approach, always keeping its mission at the forefront of all programming, planning, and development. AICDC is an innovator in the development and operation of culturally specific permanent supportive housing and serves as a model both locally and on a national level.

AICDC’s culturally sensitive services are provided by Natives to Natives. AICDC programs use the Medicine Wheel as their guide. This acknowledgment of the Mental, Physical, Emotional and Spiritual identities of American Indian people is the foundation of our services. AICDC encourages clients and residents to embrace their culture through teachings, ceremonies, and resources that connect individuals to their tribal and personal history. AICDC’s programs operate within the belief that American Indian culture provides our community with the tools to prevail during times of challenge and hardship. AICDC works to provide a healthy and safe environment in which to be Native in this non-Native world.

Celebrate Native American Culture

AICDC continues to be instrumental in celebrating American Indian, Native American and Indigenous presence in the fabric of our Urban Community.

All of our properties include spiritual and ceremonial design and structures which honor 11 federally recognized Nations, Tribes and Bands. AICDC provides and sponsors a community-based sweat lodge and other ceremonies to strengthen our community. AICDC has developed a groundbreaking, culturally relevant, urban space on the Anishinabe Wakiagun/Bii Gii Wiin campus, including the AnWak plaque, a memorial to our American Indian Veterans and Warriors. The AnWak memorial recognizes and celebrates their sacrifices to protect our people, our lands, our culture and our freedom.

Many Rivers Group LLC - Real Estate Company

Homeownership is the primary wealth-building tool for most families. According to the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency, and the State of Minnesota Emerging Markets Homeownership Initiative, Minnesota is a national leader in the percentage of residents who own their own homes. In Minnesota there is a 78% homeownership rate for whites – but the homeownership rate for American Indians lags at only 49 percent. That homeownership gap illustrates the fact that the ‘American Dream’ of home ownership is only a dream for many American Indian families.

To help make homeownership a reality, the American Indian Community Development Corporation of Minneapolis, created Many Rivers Group, LLC, a culturally sensitive real estate company aimed at closing that homeownership gap.

The goals of Many Rivers Group, LLC are:

  • To increase homeownership opportunities for American Indian families.

  • To foster the development of life skills, such as household budgeting, financial management, and home maintenance.

  • To foster community development by strengthening the social and economic bonds of Native communities through increased homeownership.

Many Rivers Group, LLC is passionate about serving the American Indian community and is proud to assist individuals and families through the home buying process. We employ all possible culturally relevant real estate tools that are available to the American Indian homebuyer. Many Rivers Group, LLC is committed to helping urban members of the American Indian community realize the dream of home ownership.

For more information, or to set up an individual meeting to talk about homeownership opportunities, please call Michael Goze at 612-813-1610, or email mgoze@aicdc-mn.org. Many Rivers Group, LLC is Located at 1508 East Franklin Avenue, in the first floor of the Many Rivers East Apartment building.
